JUNE 1, 2003 PRESS RELEASE

Young Crusader for Safe Water for Africa
Receives Boost from the Cycle for WELLnesS Tour

KEMPTVILLE, Ont. (June 1, 2003) - A boy who has spoken with Prince Charles and Oprah Winfrey of his efforts to bring clean water to Africa will be the beneficiary of the efforts of Trent Keller and Cindy Nadeau.

"From ocean to ocean to bring potable water to Africa's communities." June marks the launch of the Cycle for WELLnesS Tour, a tandem bicycle journey across Canada for a wonderful humanitarian cause. Starting in Victoria, British Columbia at Mile Zero, and traveling through all ten provinces to culminate in St. John's, Newfoundland, the two cyclists will be trying to increase awareness about the Ryan's Well Foundation, and raising money to build water wells in Africa.

Trent Keller, from Westlock, Alberta and Cindy Nadeau from Lac Baker, New Brunswick have always been passionately involved with sports, fitness, and active living. Both hold Sports Science degrees, and both agree that this has helped them with the physical and mental preparation needed for this rigorous adventure. Excited to take on this new challenge, they want to help Ryan reach his vision: for all of Africa to have clean water.

Ryan Hreljac learned about the importance of clean water in developing countries, and decided to do something about it - at the age of SIX. In just five years, he has already helped raise over $750,000 for this cause. The young boy has always had the encouragement and support of his family, friends and community to help him reach his selfless goals. Although Ryan plays hockey, basketball, soccer, chess, and is a peer helper at his school, much of his spare time is spent attending events and fulfilling speaking engagements in an ever-widening area from his home in eastern Ontario.

Last Fall, Ryan attended the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg, South Africa and has spoken at several conferences in Perth, Australia. This Spring, Ryan was invited to travel to both China and Japan. Ryan also speaks to many schools about the importance of clean water. At the same time, he inspires children by providing them with an opportunity to make the world a better place through his Ryan's Well Foundation (RWF). Lives, most certainly, have been saved by his efforts.
