Alphonse Bertrand (1846-19..) (am_1076)
Member of the Conservative Party, Alphonse Bertrand was a Member of the Legislative Assembly in New
Brunswick from 1895 to 1899 representing Madawaska county. Born in Quebec City, he was the son of
Issac Bertrand and Elizabeth Kennedy. In 1880, he married Catherine Kate Hartt, daughter of
Julia Costigan and John Hartt, hotel owner in Saint-Basile of Madawaska. Photo taken around 1900.
